We’d see each other at theatre openings, parties. We’d smile and say hello. I eventually learned he was in real estate. We’d talk endlessly about theatre, what we recently saw. He’d ask about my school year. He knew I wanted to write books. He knew my name was John and I knew his name was Ric. Nothing more. Just realized, I knew that nice guy.
