his wife is beautiful - a hip hope lange
across from them is a couple i can't see as well
mostly the back of the mans balding head
the starch white collar of the woman's shirt
they r dressed for the theater
sunday 3 pm matinees
michelle and i r on r way
2 one as well
"she ruined fiddler on the roof - ruined it"
says white collar - unaware - i think
that i am sitting
8 feet away
my dynasty says - "she was good on tv"
hope replies with a snarl
"yea - when her show was cancelled "
the women giggle
what to do … what to do
"that table is talking about me"
i tell mish - she turns to look as
r waiter shows up -
she has menu question
i am staring at the 4 folks
riveted
they keep talking
i am still the topic
"HELLO" i say loudly -
waving - with a fake smile
"I AM SITTING RIGHT HERE"
the white collared woman's face
turns heinz ketchup red
blotchy
"wow thats a red face" i say
embarrassed i suppose
"no" she says - clearly fumfered
"i sayeth what i mean"
sayeth? who the hell says sayeth
what the fucketh is wrong with u ?
was what i wanted to reply
but did not
instead i took their photo
so i would remember them
the way they tried to look away during the meal
as if nothing had happened
y r u writing about them - mish asks
and not the many kind people
who stop u and say loving things
all the time
i had no answer
